Home Remedy

I have a cold and a particularly sore throat.

I’ve read that the best remedy for a cold is rest, and that works out fine for me.  Unlike many people (especially many moms) I am perfectly able to rest when I am sick.  In fact, I often practice resting just so that I’m in tip-top resting form in the event that I get sick. And it’s a good thing that all my resting skills are well-honed for times like this, when I need to spend the better part of 48 hours on the couch.

Projects for the Long Weekend

I’ve been writing some heavy memoir stuff lately, and at times like this I feel lucky to live in the internet era, where there you can find pretty much every sort of humor imaginable.

Here’s another one of my current favorites: There I Fixed It This site is a marvelous collection of makeshift solutions to household and automobile repairs or improvements. Some are confusing, some are scary, some are actually rather clever. So, if you have any time left on this long weekend and want to fix something, here are some ideas to get you started.

Kite Runner

A while ago I swore off writing about politics, and I’m glad I did, considering the quality of public discourse lately.  Besides, thinking about that would ruin an otherwise lovely and peaceful evening.

I got a note from the internet police saying that I was late in writing something about the late King of Pop.   Soo0o, fine.  I don’t want any trouble.  And as it happens, I’ve long been a fan of Michael Jackson and his phenomenal talent.
