Redux
I suppose it will seem a little lazy — ok it just IS a little lazy — but today’s “new post” isn’t exactly that. I’ve added a couple of sections to Partial Recall – and if you’ve been following me for a while they may not be new to you, as they are edited versions of things I wrote a while ago. Soon I’ll have all that material assembled and will have to actually write new stuff.
Kite Runner
A while ago I swore off writing about politics, and I’m glad I did, considering the quality of public discourse lately. Besides, thinking about that would ruin an otherwise lovely and peaceful evening.
Recently I watched The Kite Runner, and although I’ve seen more sophisticated films, this story from Afghanistan was very affecting. Read more
Five Remembrances
This has been one of the things sustaining me over the last few months of difficult changes and the loss of a dear friend. I understand it to be a Buddhist message, although I haven’t been able to identify for sure where it comes from. Read more
Jesus Camp
Recently I watched a documentary called “Jesus Camp.” My own religious history has become a rather complicated story, and there is much that I used to believe, or tried to believe, that I have set aside in recent years. Jesus Camp was like a trip back to a part of my life that is so long ago and far away it’s almost like it happened to somebody else.
