Reading the post over, it does seem odd that guilt isn't mentioned. (It's not like I don't carry around my share of guilt, both deserved and false.) I suppose it's that the decision that I refer to when I was 18, wasn't really a question of right or wrong in an ethical sense. It was more a matter of which was more practical or perhaps more likely to lead to me or others being happy in the long run. Like choosing a career. You're quite right, we have to be responsible for our decisions. Even if a prudent or moral decision has negative results, we have to be responsible for those consequences. And if a foolish or unethical decision happens to work out well, we should still feel guilty. Maybe even guiltier. :) That’s an interesting thought, Tom.
